How to Download Kuaishou and Kwai Videos on Android

Save Kuaishou or Kwai videos on any Android phone with Chrome. Where the file goes, how to get it into your gallery, and fixes for Android-only problems.

Already have a link? Paste it into the downloader and skip ahead.

Open the downloader

Copy the video’s link in Kuaishou or Kwai, paste it into the downloader in Chrome, and tap Download MP4. The file goes to your phone’s Download folder. Google Photos, Samsung Gallery and most other gallery apps show it there.

Android is the easiest platform for this. The video is a normal file in a normal folder, so you can move it, rename it or share it like anything else.

The steps

  1. In Kuaishou or Kwai, open the video, tap Share, then Copy link (复制链接 in Kuaishou).
  2. Open Chrome. Samsung Internet, Firefox and Edge work just as well. Go to the downloader.
  3. Tap the box and paste. You can also tap the tool’s Paste button.
  4. Tap Find video, then Download MP4.
  5. A notification shows progress. Tap it when it’s done to play the video.

You don’t need an account, and you don’t need to install anything.

Which file should you pick?

Kuaishou sometimes shows two video buttons:

  • Download MP4: H.264. It plays on every Android phone, old or new.
  • Smaller MP4 (H.265): the same picture in a smaller file. Most phones from the last few years play it fine. Some older or budget phones show a black screen or “can’t play this video”.

If you’re unsure, take Download MP4. If the smaller file won’t play, VLC for Android plays it. VLC is free, open source and on Google Play.

Where to find the video

AppWhere to look
Files by GoogleBrowse > Downloads
Samsung My FilesDownloads, or Internal storage > Download
Google PhotosCollections > On this device > Download
Samsung GalleryAlbums > Download
ChromeThree-dot menu > Downloads

Gallery app menus get renamed now and then. If yours looks different, look for a Download folder or album.

Not showing in the gallery yet? Android takes a moment to scan new files. Wait a minute, or close and reopen the gallery app.

Moving it next to your own videos

If you’d rather keep saved clips with your camera videos:

  1. Open Files by Google or My Files.
  2. Go to Downloads and long-press the video.
  3. Tap Move to, then choose DCIM > Camera or any folder you like.

Android problems I see most

“Download failed” or “Can’t download file”. It’s almost always storage. Check Settings > Storage. A data saver or VPN can also interrupt large downloads, so pause it and try again.

The video opens in a new tab instead of downloading. Long-press Download MP4 and choose Download link.

Chrome asks where to save every time. That’s a Chrome setting. Go to Chrome menu > Settings > Downloads and turn off Ask where to save files.

The download button stopped working. Buttons expire an hour after the lookup. Paste the link again.

The file name is long. Names come from the caption plus the video’s ID, with hashtags removed. Rename it if you like, but keep the .mp4 ending.

Do you need a downloader app or APK?

No. Search “Kuaishou downloader APK” and you’ll find plenty of apps. Many ask for permissions they don’t need, such as your contacts or location, and fill the screen with ads. An APK from a random website never went through Google Play’s review, so you have no idea what’s inside.

A browser tool needs no permissions at all. Chrome handles the download the same way it handles any other file.

The troubleshooting guide covers the remaining errors. On another device? There are guides for iPhone and PC or Mac.
